Taxi rides from Lisbon Airport have fixed rates to protect tourists from overpricing.
From October 15, fixed taxi rates will apply at Lisbon airport for trips to the city, reports Portugal Resident. The city is divided into two zones: rides to zone 1 cost 16 euros during the day, rides to zone 2 cost 19 euros, with higher fares in the evening, night and weekends. The measure follows complaints about overcharging and a police check in which 67 violations were found among approximately one hundred checked taxis.
Fixed rates at airports are also a well-known theme in the Netherlands: travelers do not always know in advance what a taxi ride will cost, especially for unknown destinations or in a strange city. This can lead to uncertainty or unpleasant surprises upon arrival.
Nothing will change for VindTaxi customers: for airport rides and long rides in the Rijnmond region, VindTaxi already works with a fixed price that is agreed in advance. So you know what the journey will cost before you leave, without any surprises afterwards.
