More than 100 drivers in Maastricht protested on October 9 against the high commission charged by Uber.
According to TaxiPro, more than 100 taxi drivers from Maastricht have joined a joint action against the commission requested by Uber. The action, organized by the Taxi Drivers Maastricht Action Group, will take place on Friday, October 9. The drivers believe that too little of the fare ends up in their hands, even though they bear almost all the operating costs themselves.
A few months ago, Uber introduced a variable commission system throughout the Netherlands. According to the drivers, this is usually between 30 and 45 percent, with peaks of up to 50 percent, depending on supply and demand. The issue touches on a broader discussion in the taxi industry about the distribution of the fare between platforms and drivers, also outside Maastricht.
Nothing will change for VindTaxi customers. VindTaxi does not work through Uber and drives its own electric Nissan Ariya, supplemented by affiliated companies from the Taxi EU Service NL Platform for larger groups or transport. So you can continue to drive at the agreed or predetermined price, available 24/7 on +31 6 13 88 08 14.
